Easter 2017 at Caistor Hall Hotel

The clocks have changed and so has the weather – Spring is finally upon us! It’s beautiful here at Caistor Hall all year round, but our grounds are especially delightful at this time of year. If you like gardens, you’ll love the view of the hotel grounds from our restaurant. Our large windows give you plenty of time to admire the view and, of course, to chat to friends or family. You are welcome to have a stroll before or after your meal. As we are never sure what the weather will be like on the day, though, Caistor Hall is equally as welcoming on a rainy day. There are plenty of sofas and other seating for you to relax either side of your meal. The bar is available for drinks or we can serve tea and coffee. Afternoon tea is also available most days. We are fully open over the Easter Weekend. If you don’t fancy a full Sunday Lunch, lighter meals are also available.

Four Big Reasons To Hold A Midweek Wedding

Four BIG reasons to join the trend and celebrate your BIG day midweek Whilst we are certain that the weekend wedding will always be popular, the national press has recently reported a growing trend for midweek weddings.  According to The Telegraph, 21,000 couples chose to say ‘I Do’ on a weekday last year and we have certainly noticed an increase in midweek weddings of all sizes at Caistor Hall in recent years. So why are couples opting to tie the knot on a weekday?  Here’re four of the most popular reasons… Choice Because Saturday weddings are traditionally more popular, a mid-week wedding often means couples can book the venue they love at exactly the time of year they’d always dreamed of getting married.  At Caistor Hall we only ever host one wedding on your special day – yours – so you will get our full attention whatever day you are getting married.  However, many couples find that a midweek wedding means that other suppliers such as florists, photographers or caterers have more availability and are able to spend more time on getting their special day just right. Cost It is estimated that couples can save up to 1/3 by getting […]

Caistor Roman Project Open Day Weds 27th July 2016 at Caistor Hall

Ever wanted to try your hand at an archaeological dig? We are so pleased that the Caistor Roman Project has been given a grant through the lottery fund, which means they can continue with their research in and around the Roman town of Venta Icenorum (Caistor St. Edmund). They often use Caistor Hall as a base for planning meetings and exhibitions, and are hosting an open day here on Wednesday 27th July. Last year we had 120 attendees, so you can see how popular this is. It is not surprising that people are interested in the archaeology – Caistor St Edmund is one of only three Roman regional capitals in Britain that were not built on in subsequent years, so it provides a wealth of information. The open day on Wednesday is free to all members. Non-members will be charged £5 (which will be deducted from the membership fee if you join at this event). You can also have a guided walk for £2 Walk only: £2        Walk, exhibition and talks £5 Times: Opening Walk 13.00 Closing Walk 18.00 Exhibition and Talks 14.00-17.30 You will be able to browse an exhibition of information and finds from fieldwalking, […]

Clubs, Societies and Yoga At Caistor Hall

Looking for a great venue for your club or society in South Norfolk, or maybe somewhere to run a workshop or training session? Caistor Hall is a very welcoming, laid back country hotel just 4 miles from Norwich, 2 miles from Stoke Holy Cross and 3 miles from Poringland. It is set in delightful, peaceful grounds and has an air of gentility, which is perhaps why people are a sometimes surprised when they find out that Caistor Hall plays host to a number of local clubs and organisations who hold regular events there, and welcomes everyone with open arms. There’s a great selection of rooms, halls and spaces which can be hired to suit your requirements. The grand Ballroom is a beautiful space that is great for dining parties; this could be perfect for a dining club who like to meet and enjoy good food and good company. Equally, the room can take on a more functional role and be used for a workshop or a company training session. You can use the whole space or divide the room into two. What better place to have your book club than in the panelled library, with open fires on chilly nights […]

Our hotel is set in beautiful rolling countryside, yet just 4 miles from the heart of Norwich with very easy access from the A11, A140(A12), A47. There’s plentiful parking and even room to land a helicopter – so if it really is a flying visit, we’re the perfect spot. Guided Tour Of Caistor Roman Town

Did you know that on our very doorstep lies a Roman regional capital? It is one of only three in the country that does not lie beneath a modern settlement. You may have wandered over these fields, walked along the ridges, admired the wild flowers, little imagining that this was once a teeming Roman town. On Friday 3rd April, however, you are welcome to join us for a free guided walk, starting at 11am from Caistor Hall Hotel, with the opportunity to return after the walk for a discounted bar meal. In recent years the Caistor project has received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and has been delving much deeper into the history of this site, with some extraordinary finds. This Roman Town, Venta Icenorum, was the capital of the territory of the Iceni and was probably established after the Boudican Revolt. Dr Will Bowden, who you may recognise from the popular Time Team programme, has been leading the research at this project and is offering you the chance to join him on a guided walk. The walk is free of charge and will take place on Friday 3rd April, at 11am, starting from Caistor Hall Hotel. The walk will […]
